About Us
Pat Spicer, founder of K-9 Cab Pet Taxi LLC is a native of Covington, Louisiana and a veteran of the United States Air Force and United States Navy. While serving in the Navy she met her husband, and co-owner, Dan, who assists Pat during transports and in the administration of K-9 Cab Pet Taxi LLC. The idea for K-9 Cab came to Pat while residing in South Bend, Indiana where she served, with distinction, as an Animal Control Officer. South Bend residents frequently complained to her that they couldn’t afford to take time off from work to tend to many veterinary services, such as rabies vaccinations and licensing. Though Pat was extremely sympathetic she could offer no additional assistance, due to her position as a city official.
In 2003 Pat decided to leave her job as an Animal Control Officer, move back to her native Louisiana and dedicate her full attention to developing and refining K-9 Cab Pet Taxi. Focusing her attention on customers having demanding schedules K-9 Cab Pet Taxi LLC began providing VIPet valet transportation service to veterinarians, groomers and boarding facilities as well as after hour emergency transport to local emergency animal hospitals. K-9 Cab Pet Taxi LLC expanded services, beginning in 2004, to include providing airport VIPet Valet services as well as regional ground transportation.
K-9 Cab Pet Taxi often works with animal shelters and rescue groups, both locally and nationwide, encouraging responsible pet ownership through information, education, and practical solutions. Our company has contributed both time and money to Spay, Neuter & Education programs which have proven effective in easing the pain and suffering of unwanted pets due to overpopulation. Pats experience as an Animal Control Officer only deepened her compassionate view that all animals should be treated with respect and dignity and that no healthy animal should be put down “Just because they are”.
